The Bathroom Diner
While we love a trip to a good old-fashioned diner to enjoy the occasional milkshake, burger, and fries, we don’t appreciate having the diner in our bathroom.
It’s a known rule that has stood the test of time that you simply don’t eat where you do your business – this design goes against that, and we’re having trouble digesting it. Truth be told, if we added a jukebox and a table with fast food here, we wouldn’t even know it was a bathroom.
Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place
While at first, this shower design looks absolutely dreamy with its tropical views and modern build, the issue comes when we realize its impracticality. You see, while that massive rock looks aesthetically pleasing, attempting to stand on it while you shower could prove to be very dangerous.
The whole point behind showering is to clean off and relax, which most likely won’t happen if you were to set foot here. So, while it looks nice from far, it is, in fact, far from nice.
Too Much Crown Molding
We’re pretty positive that even the British Queen wouldn’t want as much crown molding as this in her palace. The overwhelming amount of layers displayed here makes it hard for us to look away — it almost makes us feel like we’re hallucinating!
So, we don’t know if the interior designer responsible for this purposefully designed such rare crown molding or, by accident, ordered too much wood… We’re going to place a bet on the latter.
The Stone Ages
While pebbles are pretty and dainty stones that are relaxing to look at, that doesn’t mean one should design one’s whole bathroom in them. Even if this bathroom was designed for a spa, it would still be overdone.
Also, this Snapchatter here makes a really good point in that cleaning this pebble-infested bathroom would be a total nightmare. The exact opposite of what the soothing stone is supposed to do for our aura. Wow, we sound like a bunch of hippies!
Trial and Error
This next architectural mistake is definitely one for the books — the contractor responsible for this lavish home might have been learning how to do his job during the process. How else could he forget to measure the staircase in relation to the front door?
While it does look grand to have a double-door entrance, once you walk into the home, you’ll soon realize the impracticality and futile nature of it. If we were the home-owners, we’d demand a full refund from the dummy that’s to blame for this.
The Skewed Sink
Nothing about the placement of this sink makes sense to the human eye — in fact, it looks so bizarre that we’re getting scary vibes from this kitchen.
Maybe it’s the view of the woods outside or the sight of old checkered floors, but everything about this room gives us American Horror Story nostalgia. Do you see it, too? To the owners of this place, we’re slightly concerned for your sanity…
Toilet Paper and Seat Combo
For centuries now, the toilet seat and toilet paper holder have been separated so that humans can reach for the paper after making their business. This should make sense to everyone, but evidently not because some designer thought he’d outsmart logic and decided to combine the toilet paper with the seat.
While we commend out-of-the-box thinking, this invention is just straight-up impractical and silly. It actually looks like it was made for the purpose of a prank.
No Privacy
When we use the bathroom to perform our personal business, it is a private procedure that should not be done out in the open for viewership. From seeing this doorless setup here, we’re assuming some people out there see public indecency as well… decent.
To the outliers who think this way, we’re here to tell you to get with the program and grow up because nobody wants to see anyone make their business! Case closed.
It Hurts Our Eyes
This mini bathroom pains our eyes for numerous reasons. First and foremost, we’re already claustrophobic from the size alone. Secondly, the toilet was installed diagonally as opposed to facing the back wall, which makes no sense to us.
Lastly, the walls are made from carpet material which as far as we’re concerned should only be placed on the floor. Plus, between the unflattering wall color and the toilet paper wrapping, the room looks like a total mess.
We Would Have Missed Our Step
Steps are designed to help us move from one level to another so that we don’t fall and can easily get to our desired location. In order for this to happen, the steps need to be distinguishable.
As seen on the left here, the checkered design of these steps makes them easily missable and a recipe for disaster as someone could fall and hurt themselves as a result. Ironically, the very purpose of a step is contradicted here by the trippy pattern.
Game of Thrones
While the iconic TV show that we used as our heading has nothing to do with this design here, we can’t help but think someone was playing a pranking game when installing this toilet.
While you should feel like the king or queen of your toilet throne, the depth, and height of these stairs are taking that concept to an impractical level — and speaking of the nonsensical, we also can’t seem to wrap our heads around this choice of shower curtains.
Shower Blinds
Shower blinds do not exist for a reason. The whole point behind this concept is to provide privacy for the person showering and to prevent water from splashing outside. Neither task can be done with blinds, so we don’t get why someone willingly had these installed.
It’s not even aesthetically pleasing, so if anyone has an inkling as to why, then please let us know. We’re tired of scratching our heads trying to understand the illogical folk behind these designs.
A Movie Set
This metallic-colored bathroom is ready for its movie feature. Between the ready-made bubble bath, golden hanging monkey, and face statue that appears to be bleeding with paint, we’d say this room would be paradise to many eccentric directors.
But as far as interior design goes, any designer who would appreciate this bathroom is either off their rocker or short of eyesight. That sounds harsh, but come on, this is not home-appropriate.
A Mirrored Doorway
This next design took us a double-take to understand. At first glance, it appears to be a wavy mirror against a wall — but upon closer analysis — we realize it is, in fact, a doorway.
While doorways are known to be rectangular to reflect the shape of a door, the designer behind this construction thought otherwise. We’re not over the moon about this curved cut, but luckily, it’s not in our homes.
The Floating Fridge
Pigs will be flying the day we will get used to the concept of a floating refrigerator. So, with that being said, it’s clear that we do not accept this design faux pas.
Measuring the space and what needs to fit inside is a key part of being a contractor, so whoever made this mistake is not a professional, in our opinion. The only good thing about this design is that it’s technically baby-proofed, as little children will have a hard time trying to open this fridge.
A Step Too High
Going to the toilet to do your business shouldn’t be a frightening procedure, but with this bathroom design, let’s just hope you’re not afraid of heights. Whoever thought to put a toilet on such a high step might have been in a fairyland when coming to this decision — because it’s totally bizarre.
Plus, that mini step that’s supposed to help cushion the fall is not the sturdiest solution. Chances are that the person who uses this toilet will leave this bathroom with a leg injury…
Let’s Carpet Up the Bath
Imagine a wife saying to her husband, “Honey, let’s carpet up the bath!” – this sentence just doesn’t make practical sense to us, but lo and behold, there is truth to it. Just inspect this snap here for yourself.
From what we have always understood, carpets are meant to keep people’s feet warm, limit the sound of shoes trudging, and make our feet more comfortable. None of these purposes serve by applying this carpet as bath wallpaper, so we’re going to have to leave this one a mystery.
I Can See You
When young adults move into their first place together, chances are it isn’t exactly their dream home. Living on a budget is totally doable, but it just means that you’ll have to make some sacrifices — for this happy couple, the sacrifice came at the cost of privacy.
The boyfriend snapped this picture of his woman while she was on her royal throne conducting business. Well, aside from the invasion of privacy, the door itself looks lovely. We’re happy for them!
Grandma Jaws
This toilet looks as if it has been designed by a hybrid cross between a sweet old grandma and the shark from Spielberg’s Jaws – we know that combination is contradictory but it just goes to show how unmatched this bathroom design is.
Who puts lavender flowers and toilet seat covers in the same room as a shark head? Our only guess in mind to this head-scratcher would be a shark-loving grandma. Feel free to add your theories.
The Sliding Door
When you look at the sliding door and room here, you probably wouldn’t even bat an eyelid, but upon closer inspection, you may start to become confused. For starters, who decides to put in a sliding door to a bedroom?
Also, the bright mind that did so chose to place curtains on the outside of the doors, which makes no sense. To make matters worse, the lock of the door is also placed on the outside. Perhaps someone doesn’t know their inside from their outside? Worrying stuff.
Faux Mold Tiles
Imagine designing your kitchen tiles with the intention of wanting them to look moldy — if you can’t seem to fathom such a desire, we’re with you entirely, but just see it for yourself here. Someone, somewhere, somehow thought that this tile design looked nice.
To that person, fungal growth is not fashionable and absolutely never will be, so get that through your head! You can thank us later…
Our Eyes and Neck Hurt
You might be wondering why we are in pain over this next design. If you can’t already figure it out from the image, we’ll happily explain our frustrations (as per.)
Firstly, our eyes burn from the overload of colors and patterns — it’s as if the designer behind this was confused with what hue to go with, so he/she just chose every color under the sun. Secondly, our necks hurt from the sight of this because look how high up the TV set is in relation to the bed…
A Royally Bad Throne
While we love our grandmas more than life itself, that doesn’t mean we think their design taste is cool. In fact, when it comes to granny-designed bathrooms, we’re big haters. Everything about this teal blue toilet makes us feel comfortable.
The brightness of the wall color gives us a headache, and that awful satin seat cover is honestly terrifying — what happens if it shifts while you’re doing your business? Good luck explaining the damages to Granny.
Designed to Be Dirty
Have you ever heard of someone wanting their tiles to look dirty? Besides the idiot responsible for the faux mold tiles, we can’t think of a sane-minded person who would want such an effect.
However, after viewing this picture it became evident to us that someone renovated their kitchen with the desire of having dirty-looking tiles. We’re tired of being confused by these nonsensical people, but we promised to deliver the goods, so here you go.
A Questionable Toilet Seat
At this point, we could write a book on all the bizarre toilets we’ve seen. From them being too high to reach to the granny seat covers to the toilet design itself not making sense.
This next one belongs in the latter category — how on earth does someone fit in a skewed toilet like this? We get that the bathroom here is no piece of art, but when did functionality and common sense go out of fashion?
A Barbie-Mosaic Bathroom
While Barbie and mosaic tiles are not a common combination, that is exactly what we get from the design of this bathroom. The mosaic reference is obvious since the whole place is covered in mosaic tiles, from the floors to the cupboards and countertops.
And as for Barbie, well that was connotative of the color pink explosion. Truth be told, we’re actually kind of into it. While the place is totally over-the-top and overdone in pink mosaic, we secretly think it’s cool. Don’t tell anyone!
Dolls Gone Wild
The amount of dolls placed in this living room is nothing short of crazy — is the owner of this home trying to scare newcomers? Not only is the interior design of this room extremely questionable, but it’s also very nonsensical.
Thanks to the overload of dolls placed on the couch, there is absolutely no space for a human to sit. Forgive us for being ‘old-fashioned,’ but in our opinion, couches are for the derriere of humans, NOT dolls.
Clean While You Watch
There are many logical reasons as to why the laundry and TV room are kept separate but then again after seeing some of these interior design examples, what is logic? It’s probably just a figment of our imagination.
So, everyone, let’s put common sense to the side and put our washing machines right under the TV screen. If we happen to get electrocuted in the process, you’re probably imagining it, right?
A Bed Within a Bed
There are few places we love more than our cozy beds, but that doesn’t mean by creating a two-in-one bed that we would reap double the benefits. If anything, this design here just looks plain strange, which is a pity because we love the rest of this bedroom interior.
As a general rule of thumb, after seeing this and other over-the-top rooms, remember that less is more when it comes to design.
Flowered Bathroom
It looks like a floral carpet threw up all over this bathroom — everything from the toilet paper dispenser to the floors and walls is covered in granny fabric. While it is definitely an unforgettable sight, that doesn’t mean in a good way.
Also, there is great impracticality in covering absolutely everything in carpet material… the designer responsible for this ‘creation’ must be a colorful soul – get it? Sorry, we’re trying hard to make light out of this floral vomit of a bathroom.
Move the Chandelier
While we love this luxurious and diamond-encrusted chandelier, what’s bothering us about it is its placement in the ceiling molding. It seems like a very simple job to measure a light fixture so that it sits centered, however that didn’t stop this one from getting totally botched.
The inner OCD neat freak in us is just not okay with such a rookie error. The ceiling design was specially constructed to have the chandelier fit in the center, so someone should really fix this.
Don’t Bathe Where You Sleep
While this pink room is super girly and cute, the interior design is distracting from a bigger problem at hand – the bathtub is right next to the bed. Despite the feature of that golden Buddha statue, we’re still not at peace with this decision.
When we bath, the nearby floors are inevitably going to get wet, and that paisley satin-looking bedding is just not equipped for water damage. We suggest that the homeowner move the bed a safe distance away.
A Skewed Stove
This is not the first time that we’ve seen a wonky stove with an unmatched kitchen hood. At this point, we don’t have any more sighs of frustration to give. But with that being said, we’re still scratching our heads, trying to understand how one is supposed to use this stove.
And it appears we’re not alone as the Snapchatter responsible for this image also posed the obvious question — “How would any of this work?” Your guess is as good as ours.
A Triangular Stair
This stair has us confused, uncomfortable, and intrigued all at the same time – who knew so many emotions could come from a single stair? We want to explain our haywire feelings further.
Firstly, we’re slightly unsettled by this because it resembles the open mouth of a crocodile, in our opinion. Secondly, we’re confused as to its purpose within the staircase and lastly, we’re intrigued because we’ve never seen anything quite like it.
Don’t Open That Door
Logic surpassed the mind of the person responsible for constructing the layout of this bathroom. Who puts the shower together with the door? A total nonsensical idiot, that’s who!
Call us old-fashioned, but we actually enjoy our privacy whilst showering and would not be too pleased to have that compromised by people opening and closing the bathroom door. Are logic and privacy just too much to ask for nowadays?
This Is Draining
We just need to take a moment to appreciate the pun in our heading – we hope you all get it and if you don’t then down the drain you should all go. Okay, we’re finished now. On another note, let’s inspect this botched design of a shower drain.
While we are no plumbing specialists, we’re positive that in order for a drain to do its job (soak up the water), it needs to be flat on the ground. Otherwise, what is the actual point? To look pretty? We think not.
The Magical Floor
A rare sighting spotted: 8000 magic cards covering 39m² of flooring. While we get that people are avid collectors of all sorts of stuff like key chains or snow globes, that doesn’t mean we need to make floorboards out of them, right?
So, we’re not so on board (get it?) with this choice in design. We only hope that the power in magic cards is legitimate and that people who walk on this floor will be granted wishes or experience something supernatural.
Walk the Plank
Back in the 17th century, pirates would make their victims walk off the end of a narrow board placed over the ship deck as a form of lethal punishment. This toilet design reminds us of that brutality.
If anyone who used this toilet was not very careful, they’d fall down those stairs and badly hurt themselves during or after going about their business. A total recipe for disaster!
Granny Design Strikes Again
While we have already emphasized our love of grannies, we can’t seem to rid ourselves of these god-awful bathrooms designed by them. What is it with people carpeting their bathtubs? This antiquated trend has got to go.
And while this granny is in the process of remodeling, we suggest that she tosses that toilet rug and synthetic flower pot. In fact, the only item that should remain here is the bathtub itself.
The Wood Barricade
This next nonsocial design has us baffled because we cannot work out the point of placing this random plank of wood in the middle of a hallway. If anyone has suggestions for this, please let us know!
The only reason we have come up with is that the homeowners don’t want people entering past the plank of wood, but they definitely could have come up with a chicer and less heavy way of doing that.
A Mouse Soapbox
While we don’t understand the designer’s logic behind creating this single square inch of raised carpet (complete with matching lining), we have come up with our own suggestion.
Since no human would find a purpose to do anything with this mounted square, we at TheFashionBall believe this was designed to be a soapbox for a tiny animal. Perhaps a mouse or rat? We know it sounds ridiculous, but then again, so is this design.
An Unhygienic Wash Basin
While technically speaking, there isn’t anything wrong with the structure and design of this basin, from a moral standpoint, we just can’t wrap our brains around it. What was the interior designer possibly thinking when he/she designed this?
We’re pretty sure that this out-of-the-box thinking is on the perverted side. There’s something so unhygienic about seeing this person’s backside whilst we have to wash our hands, right?
A Sofa in the Kitchen?
While we all require a kitchen and lounge area in our homes, the rooms are separated for good reason. However, some whacky designer thought otherwise and came up with this sofa-inspired kitchen. While the kitchen looks practical enough to use, we just can’t get past the kitsch interior design here.
In fact, it looks as if it belongs on an episode of Married… With Children. Those of you who are too young to remember the show, start your binge-watch now!
An Off-Centered Kitchen Hood
Those of you who are obsessed with perfection and having things look even and centered will have a hard time adapting to this botched stove remodel. While the stove itself looks modern and clean, the kitchen hood located above it is very off-center to the left.
We can’t quite fathom how professional builders could oversee this obvious blunder while remodeling the kitchen – at least the stove works, right?
A Pop Artsy Kitchen
For all the pop art lovers out there, this loud and pink-detailed kitchen may fit your taste but it certainly doesn’t fit ours. Maybe just one of the elements would suffice but putting it all together is rather painful on the eyes.
We’ve got patterned flooring, a lavender refrigerator, a pink door, pink handles, and some weird party streamers all in one space. To the designer who created this kitchen, we suggest adopting the ‘less is more’ phrase.
We consider ourselves to be quite the fashionistas, and as a result of this, we enjoy judging those who clearly don’t have the same eye. Below is a list of the most bizarre interior design creations that exhibit anything but style, class, or logic. Brace yourselves and hold on tight to your knowledge of common sense before checking out the designs in question below!
